Winter is coming! Having my first scan of the Salesforce Winter ‘15 release notes, it’s got oodles of good stuff. Way too much to cover in a blog post, but here are a few that my inner nerd is really looking forward to. These are some of the timesavers and enhancements to the platform that will make everyone’s Salesforce experience that much better.
1. HELP AND TRAINING SEARCH NOW INCLUDES COMMUNITY CONTENT
Let’s face it. The Success Community solves problems. There are thousands of people who contribute new and updated content daily, solving real world problems. Salesforce help is great, but it will be wonderful to also have search community content for relevant answers to questions.
FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for this one… since 2009. There was not even a font size button in the old editor. Plus, giving us the ability to view the source code will be helpful when trying to debug pasted text.
3. SALESFORCE A “ACCOUNT SWITCHING”
According to the Winter ‘15 release notes, it is now possible to switch between multiple organizations without having to log in/log out of the app. This is a big timesaver to admins of multi-org type companies and to consultants like me who administer dozens of Salesforce instances. I’m always on the move, so this will help me do my job better.
It’s great to see this feature being baked into the platform. Duplicates are always a big challenge for any Salesforce admin and user. This tool will make managing them just a little bit easier. For more detailed information, check the Winter 15 release notes.
5. “STREET REP”
Salesforce Communities now come with a customizable reputation engine to enable statistics and reputation management for community members. I could see something like this driving engagement, as it gamifies the experience and could drive competition between members for top status. This is an exciting release for users, administrators, and consultants like me. Features across the board will make all of our jobs easier. For more information on the reputation engine, check the Winter 15 release notes.
Great job, Salesforce team–another winner! Do you have any features you’re excited about? If so, drop a comment. We’d love to hear from you.
